The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom;
A good understanding have all those who do His commandments.
His praise endures forever.
Psalm 111:10
Luke 5:37 NIV “And no one pours new wine into old wineskins. If he does, the new wine will burst the skins, the wine will run out and the wineskins will be ruined”
Are you ready for a new chapter in your life? To move forward into the blessing God has for you, you must be willing to let go of the old. The things that are behind you are not nearly as important as what is out in front of you. It is time to get ready for the “new”! You may have had some unfair things happen, things that you do not understand; but you should not get stuck. Instead of allowing those things to hold you back, you should let go of them and take a step of faith into the new. It is time to get a new, bigger vision; it is time to get a new, fresher outlook; it is time to arise and shine with a new attitude! Instead of settling where you are, get up and move forward. Have the attitude that says: I may not understand what I am going through; it may not have been fair, but I am not getting stuck on this chapter of my life. I know God has a new chapter for me: a chapter filled with blessings, favor, and victory! I am breaking out of the norm! Always thank God for His faithfulness in your life. Trust Him with your past, present, and future. Ask God to give you wisdom to discern the seasons of your life so you can embrace the new things He has in store for you!
1 Thessalonians 5:18 KJV “In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”
Bad things happen in life sometimes, and believers are not exempted from experiencing bad things. There are times we do not understand what is happening or why. But there are many things we can always be thankful for: God loves us. Jesus died for us. Our sins are forgiven. Jesus has promised to never leave us. God is our Father and He is faithful. We have an eternal home in Heaven. Whatever we choose to focus on determines our attitude. While we may face challenges in life, we do not have to let those challenges become our focus. We can choose to give thanks and praise God for His goodness and faithfulness. Thanksgiving and praise are powerful weapons of spiritual warfare. Imagine the pleasure it will bring our Father God when we stay in faith and focus on Him, instead of being distracted by the lies of the devil to steal our faith. If you are always thankful, the bad things that do happen to you will lose their ability to really harm you, because your focus is on God and He is more than able to make you victorious always. I want to encourage you today to choose to be thankful to God, no matter what happens!
JOHN 14:1 NIV “Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me.”
There are so many disturbing events going on all over the world that could make people’s hearts to be troubled. But as Christians we should not be troubled because we are not of the world. Jesus told us to NOT LET our hearts be troubled, it means we can do it. Jesus would never tell us to do something that was impossible for us to do. There are several scriptures that can stabilize us in troubled times. John 14:27 “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 16:33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” We (Christians) are not exempt from trouble in this world. But Jesus is always with us to lead us into victory, no matter what we may face. Isaiah 26:3 “You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you.” If your heart is troubled, it means you are looking at, and feeding your mind with wrong information. What you feed on, listen to, and watch is important, because such information determines what you believe. I want to encourage you today to look to God and His Word. Refuse to doubt God’s never-failing word. Do not allow your heart to be troubled, but trust in Jesus!
Proverbs 18:10 “The name of the Lord is a strong tower; The righteous run to it and are safe.”
We need God’s protection. So, we should expect His protection and thank Him for it. But we must remember that we receive from God by faith. If we do not believe God will protect us, we are, in effect, hindering God’s protection. So, we need to feed our faith on the promises of the Bible concerning God’s protection for His people. There are many, but here are some: Psalm 46: 1 “God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble.” Psalm 138:7 “Though I walk in the midst of trouble, You will revive me; You will stretch out Your hand Against the wrath of my enemies, And Your right hand will save me.” Psalm 140:4 “Keep me, O Lord, from the hands of the wicked; Preserve me from violent men, Who have purposed to make my steps stumble.” 2 Samuel 22:3-4 “The God of my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield and the horn of my salvation, My stronghold and my refuge; My Savior, You save me from violence. I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised;
So shall I be saved from my enemies.” Also Psalm 23:1-6; Psalm 121:1-8; Psalm 91:1-16. Then we also need to express our faith in thanks to God every day for His protection. Psalm 91 can help us do this. I recommend you make Psalm 91 personal and speak it often.
Mathew 6:33 NKJV “All these things shall be added to you.”
Some Christians think that God’s sole purpose is to save their soul, help them become as morally upright and as spiritually mature as possible, and one day take them to heaven to live with Him. And in a sense, that is true. But here is what is not true: that God is not interested in your job, your health, your relationships, your finances, or your dreams and goals because somehow those things are carnal, worldly, irrelevant, and temporal. When you think like that, you will have challenges receiving every promise God has for you. That type of thinking contradicts God’s word (3 John 2; Isaiah 48:17; Joshua 1:8). As a matter of fact, the more spiritual you are the more wisdom, favor, and capacity you should have to succeed in life. Spirituality should never be equated with failure or unfulfilled life! Jesus says however, that we should not have our priority messed up (Matthew 6:31-33) in our quest for success but to put God first in every undertaking. This requires renewing our minds with God’s word (Romans 12:2). So, let us be clear: God wants you to succeed in life for the right reasons, and He has provided for you through Christ Jesus everything you need to succeed in life!
1 Samuel 16:7 NKJ “…For the Lord does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
When the Lord looks at your heart, what does He see? Every one of us has an outer life and an inner life. The outer life is our public life that the people around us see. The inner life is made up of our thoughts, attitudes, and motives. Only you and God know what is going on inside of you unless it is revealed by the Holy Spirit. Too many people go around today pretending, acting one way, yet on the inside they are thinking something totally different. Their heart and their actions do not line up (Matthew 15:8). But we must understand that God is looking on the inside. We can fool a lot of people, but we cannot fool God. He would rather us be open and honest than go through life pretending. Take inventory of what is going on inside of you today. Examine your heart. Are you at peace? Are you harboring offenses, bitterness, unforgiveness? Do you believe the best in people? Do your heart and actions line up? Be honest with yourself and ask the Lord for help if you need to be free from the bondage of hypocrisy. Put your heart in order!
