Train Your Children

Proverbs 22:6 KJV “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”

God’s plan is that children be a great blessing in a family. But it is sad to note that in many homes, the children are frustrating and exhausting their parents for no just cause. The most important part of being parents is teaching our children to follow a Godly lifestyle. If we teach our children to respect authority and obey God’s commandments while they are young, they will stay on that path when they are older, regardless of peer or societal pressures. Our children need all the advantages of a moral and loving family environment. Do not be deceived into thinking that letting children have their own way will promote your peace or theirs. No peace will be found in a home where the instruction of the Lord is not followed, and where divine order is not maintained. Children do not know what is best for them. That is why God gave them parents who are responsible for training them correctly. Training is much more than teaching, for it requires that the desired action be done over and over, until acting right becomes a habit. When acting right becomes part of their lives, it will be hard for peers, or society to influence them negatively. Build an altar in your home for family prayers, devotion, and spiritual union. But if you did not achieve perfection in this area, God will still help you and your children. Do not give up on your children, even if they are grown. Never stop loving them. Never stop praying for them. Parenting is not at all an easy job, but we can count on God’s guidance to use us to bless our children with unconditional love and resources.
