Train Your Children

Proverbs 22:6 KJV “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”

God’s plan is that children be a great blessing in a family. But it is sad to note that in many homes, the children are frustrating and exhausting their parents for no just cause. The most important part of being parents is teaching our children to follow a Godly lifestyle. If we teach our children to respect authority and obey God’s commandments while they are young, they will stay on that path when they are older, regardless of peer or societal pressures. Our children need all the advantages of a moral and loving family environment. Do not be deceived into thinking that letting children have their own way will promote your peace or theirs. No peace will be found in a home where the instruction of the Lord is not followed, and where divine order is not maintained. Children do not know what is best for them. That is why God gave them parents who are responsible for training them correctly. Training is much more than teaching, for it requires that the desired action be done over and over, until acting right becomes a habit. When acting right becomes part of their lives, it will be hard for peers, or society to influence them negatively. Build an altar in your home for family prayers, devotion, and spiritual union. But if you did not achieve perfection in this area, God will still help you and your children. Do not give up on your children, even if they are grown. Never stop loving them. Never stop praying for them. Parenting is not at all an easy job, but we can count on God’s guidance to use us to bless our children with unconditional love and resources.

Love Means Giving

John 3:16 KJV “For God so loved the world, that he gave . . .”

You can give without loving, but you cannot love without giving. When you love you will give of your time, you will give of yourself, and you will give of your resources. Those who truly love, hold nothing back. The measure of your giving reveals the measure of your love. Love is something we cannot see, but we can see the evidence of love in the action it produces, which is giving. That means giving is a tangible evidence of love(1 John 3:18 TLB). If you love someone you will also give them forgiveness. Love causes you to be merciful, understanding, and forgiving. Where you give your time and resources also reveals what you love. If we think we love someone, yet never give to them of our time or resources, then we are just deceiving ourselves. Our giving reveals our love. There are many people in each of our lives who need and deserve our love. Jesus Christ deserves our most love above all others. As we love Jesus first, we receive the capacity to love others in a giving and sacrificial way. The love of God is already poured into our hearts by the Holy Spirit (Romans 5:5); so, let us activate that love and exemplify it by our sacrificial giving to others and to God’s work.

Prepare for The “New”

Luke 5:37 NIV “And no one pours new wine into old wineskins. If he does, the new wine will burst the skins, the wine will run out and the wineskins will be ruined”

Are you ready for a new chapter in your life? To move forward into the blessing God has for you, you must be willing to let go of the old. The things that are behind you are not nearly as important as what is out in front of you. It is time to get ready for the “new”! You may have had some unfair things happen, things that you do not understand; but you should not get stuck. Instead of allowing those things to hold you back, you should let go of them and take a step of faith into the new. It is time to get a new, bigger vision; it is time to get a new, fresher outlook; it is time to arise and shine with a new attitude! Instead of settling where you are, get up and move forward. Have the attitude that says: I may not understand what I am going through; it may not have been fair, but I am not getting stuck on this chapter of my life. I know God has a new chapter for me: a chapter filled with blessings, favor, and victory! I am breaking out of the norm! Always thank God for His faithfulness in your life. Trust Him with your past, present, and future. Ask God to give you wisdom to discern the seasons of your life so you can embrace the new things He has in store for you!

What Defines Your Future?

Job 22:28 NKJ “You will also declare a thing, and it shall be established…”

In the Old Testament there was an Israelite woman who was about to give birth. She had just heard that the Ark of the Covenant that housed God’s presence had been stolen. She was so upset about it that she named her baby boy Ichabod (1 Samuel 4:21-22), which means “the glory has departed.” Notice what she did; she named her future by what was happening in her present. She could have just as well named her baby “the glory will return,” but she was so focused on the negative, so caught up in where she was at that moment that she defined her future by it. People of God do not ever name your future by your present circumstances. You may be going through some hard times and it  may look like you are stuck in a pot hole and you do not really see how you could ever rise any higher;  even in that situation do not speak defeat over your life (Ephesians 4:29). Instead, name your future: blessed, prosperous, successful, victorious, healthy, whole, strong, talented, creative, wise, productive. Thank God for the good future He has prepared for you. Declare what God’s Word says so that you can move forward in the destiny He has prepared for you!

Owe No Man

Romans 13:8 NLT “Owe nothing to anyone—except for your obligation to love one another. If you love your neighbor, you will fulfill the requirements of God’s law.”

This scripture reveals a profound truth about God’s expectation of believers in Jesus Christ especially currently when men’s hatred for other men is increasing at an alarming rate. Jesus Christ has shown us that the key cornerstone of our faith is LOVE (John 13:34-35).  Loving people is a debt you cannot pay in full. There will always be the Need to Love. The most dangerous person in the world is a man without hope. Let us open the door of hope to the people without hope through the unconditional love of God. The love of God is already shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Spirit (Romans 5:5). Let us intentionally walk in that love. As a believer in Jesus Christ, you are equipped to share the love of God to the world. Let us take time to meditate the LOVE tenets in 1 Corinthians 13 verses 4 through 7 and walk in them. I pray for you that you will owe no man nothing but love.  This is the season to love and forgive as Christ forgave us. Wake up! Arise and love. It is the time to pay our indebtedness of love. I love you!
