Have you consulted God about it?

Joshua 9:14 NKJV “But they did not ask counsel of the Lord.”

You make decisions all the time. Some simple and others complex. Some reversible others non-reversible. The situation you are in today is the result of decisions you made some time in the past. When you consult God before making decisions, it keeps you out of all sorts of trouble. Joshua learned this the hard way. He had just conquered Jericho, the biggest city in the Promised Land. Savoring this victory, the Israelites felt like they did not need to consult God concerning their next move. The Gibeonites, one of the enemy nations in the Promised Land, realized they could not win against God’s people (Israel), so they sent negotiators in to make peace with them. And it worked. Even though the Gibeonites were lying, Joshua presumed they were telling the truth and signed a treaty. Rather than taking the matter to the Lord, Joshua was taken in by deception of the Gibeonites. And it proved to be one of the biggest mistakes of his life. From that day on the Gibeonites became an albatross to Israel. Joshua lived to regret that he “did not ask God about it.” Are you a kind of person that wants to make things happen in your own strength? Do you have the tendency to move too quickly or operate in your own strength and skill in making decision? I want to encourage you today to consult with God on every decision you wish to make (Proverbs 3:5-7). You will be saving yourself from a whole lot of trouble.
